This Beautiful sign was sent in before the "Great Mazeppa Muster",
an International Letterheads meet in Mazeppa, Minnesota.
I had the good fortune of meeting Cam in Mazeppa.
Cam was good enough to share his portfolio with me at Meyer Signs.
Stunning Sign design every page I turned!
thanks Cam for sharing your craft with us all.

Details and Comments by the Sign Artist...
This Sign is 48"x72", raised-panel Sign foam with a mahogany frame built by the late Clyde Muller.
The main copy is two layers of foam, with the letters cut out and bevel-carved, then gilded.
The "jewelry - fine art" and "objects of beauty" panels are foam appliques,
as is the diamond; the scrolls are carved into the
background, and the background smalted.
The sign is gilded with 23k and 18k gold and with aluminum leaf.
The mahogany frame is finished with multiple coats of marine varnish.
Since this was taken, the roof bracket has been painted black (looks much better!)
The outside frame is mahogany,
finished with 8 coats or so marine varnish. Center is SignFoam; all the
letters and panels are appliques. The "majestic" letters are two layers of
cut-out Signfoam, and the top layer is shaped for a prismatic effect, and
gilded with 23k gold leaf.
The panels with other copy are incise-v-carved, and applied (also SignFoam)
The curlicues are carved into the base background layer of SignFoam and the
rest of the background is smalt. The sign has 23k XX gold, 18k Lemon gold,
and aluminum leaf (on the diamond).
Overall size is 4 feet by 6 feet. Client handled the installation and has
since painted the roof bracket black, which looks much better.
I don't know what you want to say about pricing, but I sold this job for
$3,500. The materials, including the blank which was subbed out, was about
$1200. Labor (mine) was 26 hours @ $50, comes to $1300. Total cost was
$2500, which left me $1000 profit clear. I love SignFoam; no way could I
have done this job out of wood in that amount of time.
I live for this kind of work, buddy. Thanks for the recognition.
